This year, we've gone to the dogs (and cats)! The proceeds from the Celebrate Surfside Beach Festival will help to support the Grand Strand Humane Society and aid the Surfside Beach Police Department drive to obtain a replacement K-9 officer.
The Grand Strand Humane Society exists to improve the quality of life to the lost, abandoned helpless and homeless animals in the Myrtle Beach Community by providing shelter, care and love. They are proud to be part of the No-Kill SC community of animal shelters.
The Grand Strand Humane Society is committed to providing excellent guest service to those people visiting our facilities in the hope that all our animals can find caring and loving homes. Their goal is to educate our community about responsible pet ownership and to investigate and attempt to prevent cruelty to all animals.
Sgt. Pinto and K-9 Sif
Surfside Beach K-9 Replacement
After 9 years of service Sif, the current K-9 officer, is retiring due to medical issues. Sif is looking forward to a happy retirement, staying with her handler and best friend, Sargent Pinto.
Sif has been an invaluable asset to the Surfside Beach Police Department, as a drug sniffing and tracking dog. K-9 officers are in high demand, and the training costs are considerable. We have offered to help raise money to offset this cost. If you are interested, a 503C charity has been established to raise funds for this needed service. Please consider donating to this cause, and thank you for supporting the Celebrate Surfside Beach Festival in our fund raising efforts.
